A summer sunset from a few months ago!
I did manage to escape with the camera down the dirt road, hoping to get a nice sunset. It seemed disappointing at first, and the sun wasn’t where I wanted it to be.
But I continuned to the end of the road. By that time the colours were starting to come, and then THIS!!
The Lord sure paints pretty pictures!!
FIRE IN THE SKY!
Another shot of the same sunset.
Funny thing about sunsets. Clear skies don’t make good sunsets, generally. It’s through the clouds that the beauty is displayed. And so with us… God’s glory shines brighter in tough times.
Thank the Lord for the clouds!

Is that how we sometimes are with God?? We sometimes forget where our strength and help comes from.
So let us heed this timely advice from the Bible…
Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
(Romans 12:3; Galatians 6:3; Philippians 2:3-4 – NLT)
And some warnings about the fate of the proud…
Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble,
but he keeps his distance from the proud.God opposes the proud but favours the humble.
For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has a day of reckoning.
He will punish the proud and mighty and bring down everything that is exalted. The Lord tears down the house of the proud, but he protects the property of widows.
Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.
Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honour.
(Psalm 138:6; James 4:6; Isaiah 2:12; Proverbs 15:25; 16:18; 29:23
So let’s not be like SUPER CHOOK!!

As I was watching, trying to get a nice shot of this mother hen with her brood, I was reminded of a time that Jesus wept over God’s people. He lamented:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem! … How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings …”

“… and you would not!” (Matthew 23:37, NIV)
Boy, it was hard to get a good shot here. I’d try and position the camera through the wires, but sometimes I got the wires. Though, somehow, I do think the wire adds to the picture.

In the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by. (Psalm 57:1)

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armour and protection.
(Psalm 91:1-4, NLT)
On a visit to a friend’s little farm, I got this shot. It wasn’t easy.
The chickens and mum were in a small cage. with very close wire. It was hard to get a good shot through the very close wire.
But I persevered! The chicks managed to get in a spot where I could get a good aim through the wire, and I was pleased that I waited.

One night I went out to my frogs. There were two on the front steps, one on the top step and one on the next one. But ALAS!! Their smiles were gone!!
What could have been the matter?? I asked, but the answer was not forthcoming!!
So, I guess I’ll just have to guess….

… Perhaps it was the global financial crisis?? Or maybe the US election results??
But then I thought of this…
“For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.
“For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering.
“We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.” (Romans 8:19-23, NLT)
So, one day, there will be NO MORE PAIN… nor suffering … nor trouble … nor sorrow…
Hallelujah!! Maranatha!! Come Lord Jesus!!
